Next Year and Franconian Lagers in Portland, Maine this weekend

"We seem to have built up a bit of critical mass of people who have met each other (those who haven't not excluded), so is it worth seriously looking at the possibility of a co-ordinated link up next year - say spring? I know a great our guide - actually, I know a few!

Always the optimist!"

I won't make it to Franken next spring since as of right now it looks like a late April - early May trip to Ireland is in the works with my wife and daughter.  Hopefully we'll see you there!

But, and I know this is way in advance, I am definately making an 11 day trip to Bamberg/Franken happen around Annafest end of July/early August next year.  I have a fellow beer loving friend who is going to make the trip with me and this will be his first real trip to Bamberg (not counting the half a day he spent there years ago) and Franken.  I'm hugely excited to show him around the area because there's nothing like seeing and hearing the reaction of a first timer to all these places that we already know and love.

In the meantime there is small cask festival this weekend in Portland, Maine where rumor has it that there will be potentially 11 different Franconian lagers served BA there.  This will help tie me over for a bit until July.  I'm curious as to what beers will be there.  I think Mahrs and Schlenkerla are givens.  I'm betting Monchsambach Lager is one of the other ones.  Beyond that no idea.
