I'd simply not been too impressed with Ott beers before, vom Fass: gassy and just a bit un-special. This CO2-keg version of their Export was indeed too gassy, but the flavour was still better than I recall from visiting the brewery...last time with Uncle Jimbo, IIRC.

The Hetzi, when we arrived, was poured from a bottle, although it's listed as a draught beer. Lady Proprietor said that the draught was just running awfully, way over-gassed, and needed someone to adjust it. (Why not she herself?) The bottled stuff was great -- very minimally carbonated, too.

I had not drunk any Hetzi for a  couple of years, again, because draught stuff at the couple of places in Erlangen pour it too gassy, and, well, I just got tired of it. This was a nice refresher. A colleague came on who fixed the CO2 line, and so a half-Seidla was ordered. It was way too gassy, and this just killed the flavour in comparison to the bottled version.

Both still too strong for the relative flavour enjoyment potential though!

I would've thought you'd have drunk all those on the train or down in the savage South!
