Brewing from Kits is not the Same as Brewing with Malt Extract

Pressed for time whilst posting yesterday before heading off to the salt mines. I (think) I meant, while  your kit might already be boiled, normal extracts such as from Weyermann are not. You wouldn't "brew" a batch of beer by putting extract in water and then adding yeast any more than you would take the run-off from an all-grain mash and add yeast to it without boiling it.

Like I said elsewhere, I found a bigger improvement in my homebrew when I went from partial boil to full boil, than when I went from extract to all-grain mashing. Boiling is really important to the quality of the wort (someone who remembers more than me can explain why), sterilisation is just a happy side-effect.
