Complaining about Roppelt

There's a side to this which is quite interesting for me. I always hold up the German people as a great exemplar when it comes to complaining about poor service or quality. For example, when Aldi and Lidl opened first in Ireland, a lot of locals said that their goods must be sub-standard because they were cheap (at least cheaper than the vastly overpriced Irish and British supermarkets). So, I explained patiently that their goods could not be sub-standard because they would not be acceptable to German people who were much better at complaining publicly than the British or Irish who simply grumbled to themselves.

But now it appears that it is a Briton (not a Brit, hate that!) living in Ireland who is raising the roof about poor standards in Germany - well I never!
