| Normally I would run into Frank at least once or twice on a visit to Bamberg either at one of the pubs or just walking down the street. This year not once. The first time I met him was at Stohrenkeller and was quite funny. He overhead a group of us speaking English and came over to our table and asked if we were from the UK. Well it was actually 4 Americans and 2 Germans from Hamburg. He was there with a friend of his and they introduced themselves to us as the Pope and Cardinal of Bamberg. Next year I'll make more of an effort to get in contact with him because something just doesn't seem right about being in Bamberg for 10 days and not having at least one beer with Frank. Although he did admit to me the last time I saw him (and I know he's admitted this to Fred as well) that he is originally from Unterfranken not Oberfranken. So perhaps his expertise on Franconian beer should be called into question? I bet he knows more about wine than he will admit to us. :tongue in cheek: |
