So. Back again from Cornwall for a couple of days. I managed to see a lot of breweries and tried masses of different cornish beers during the past three weeks. Cornwall itself was more stress than vacation, thanks a lot, you millions of bloody english tourists... Those were the working breweries I went to: Penpont, Altarnun. Blue Anchor, Helston. Lizard Ales, Coverack. Cornish Chough, Trethvas. Keltek, Redruth. Sharp's, Rock. Driftwood Spars, St. Agnes. Hogswood, Mithian. St. Austell, St. Austell. Tintagel Brewery, Tintagel. Skinner's, Truro. Woodenhand, Truro. Obviously closed for some time already was: Cornish Crown Brewery, Badger's Cross. Many of the produced beers were good, some average, a small amount was crap. Surely the best of the listed breweries were 3. Penpont (very rural brewery with great beers); 2. Hogswood (tiny one man brewery, mighty beer!); 1. Driftwood Spars (only excellent beers, great pub). The three bigger breweries of Cornwall are St. Austell, Skinner's and Sharp's. I don't get, why Skinner's are so successful in Cornwall. Most of their beers are sweet, unbalanced and bland. Awful stuff. Quite nice were the beers from the other two, especially the beer "Proper Job" from St. Austell. Cheers Jürgen
