Thinking back on my Trip

I agree Don, but there have been many many breweries that I have missed over the past 1,000 years or so I can't get too hung up on it, tragic as it is in the case of modern day Franonia especially. In my formative years as a Bamberg beer tourist, I was always so keen to fit as many new places in as possible. Now I'm a little wiser, I prefer to 'cherry pick'. If I'm in Franconia for say 5 days, i can't justify a whole days travel to visit a remote brewery that may close soon... when I could visit 4 or 5 that I really like. I always set out with grand plans to visit a far flung brewery or 5 that involves several modes of transport to reach and has innevitably changed the opening hours so that you end up waiting outside for a few hours until signs of life appear (though often its more worth while than you can hope of course!) Nowadays I just get drawn back to the old favorites, the likes of Lowenbrau Buttenheim or Zehedner in Monchsambach. Deep down I think the same as you, but I don't work over 200 hundred days a year to let it bother me on holiday ;) The people of Franconia are the only ones that can change brewery closures, and sadly even they are often powerless. I'm just grateful to have had the chance of visiting so many places that I have, and all the experieces that have been a part of it. What else can one do?
