Maibock time frame?

Welcome! I think Klosterbräu is the only Bamberg brewery to do an official Maibock. Ten years ago it was absolutely deadly, 7.5% but you didn't notice the alcohol until the 2nd or 3rd one -- and then it was too late :) I was going to German school then and had a few missed homework assignments because of it :) Of late it has gone down hill, as I've found the case with all of their beers (the Pils has stayed constant but that is because it is brewed by Kaiser Neuhaus) I am a fan of the Mönschsambacher Maibock (sorry Nick) and it is usually on tap at Cafe Abseits for part of May -- though probably not as late as you will be. But there may be bottles left. This seems to be a style growing in popularity in Franconia -- as it used to be rare to see one when traveling in the countryside but now it is not so unusual. If you head up to Bamberg during your stay, let me know -- I will be in Bamberg then.
