On the Wikipedia page about Porter (in German) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_%28Bier%29 You find many exampels of German porter, p.e. from the Klosterbrauerei Neuzelle (near Cottbus) Privatbrauerei Eibau and Privatbrauerei Giessen. In the formerly GDR (east Germany) they have brewed some porters. Andy Gänstaller has called his porter "Baltic Porter" because this beerstyle is brewed in the most cases bottom-fermented and Andy Gäntaller only brew bottom-fermented. Baltic Porter is strong (more than 7%, Gänstaller Baltic Porter: 9.6% vol. alc.) Another old German variation of this beerstyle is a more sweet porter, actual available as "Lausitzer Porter" from the Bergquell Brauerei Löbau (I hate this sweet beer). Weyermann brews different porters, but on the base of the porters in the british/american tradition, p.e. "London Porter Bamberg-Style", "Süßholz-Porter", Rasperry-Porter etc.) So, if a German microbrewery now is brewing porter You don't know without further informations: in the German tradition or as a adaptation of international (british) beerstyles.
