It seems odd that a business in such a small village that had been closed for a time not wish to be more proactive about attracting customers. A la schlenkerla making the (no brainer) decision to abandone their ruhetag and open Tuesday. Yes its different in the country and yes I'm probably over simplifying a complex situation but whilst they are generally good brewers and offer real welcome when they open, I'm not sure business acumen is high on the list of skills on offer. This worries me from a perspective of businesses closing. Erratic opening hours often feature and cannot help the business, as much as the owners need a break or are elderley (as is often the case). Like I say, I'm sure there are reasons but in tough times you need a plan b otherwise the strong will survive and the weak fall away. Ironically enough in such a traditional region, the traditional franconian opening hours of 6am - late (as i understand them) are dying out.
