http://www.kundmueller.de/ Roland Kundmüller (the brewmaster) and Ossi Kundmüller (management) are focused on quality and the use of awards for their successful marketing (p.e. export to Italy, availabilty in Munich etc.). Together with the brewry Fässla the brewery Kundmüller have had a big growth from around 600 Hektoliter to over 25.000 Hektoliter in the last 20 years (not surprising for american craft breweries but wonderful for breweries in the shrinking German beer branche. In the last year they have installed a bottle fillery (before they have used the contract brewery Göller for bottle filling). Their beers have won many medals of the European Beer Star Award in the last years (many other breweries in the region Bamberg doesn't partizipate on this competition). They have won medals for their - Weiherer Rauchbier - Weiherer Kellerbier - Weiherer Bockbier Since 2011 they make a Weiherer Bock - Franconia Straight Bourbon Whiskey Flavored In 2011 this beer was not good balanced. Few alcohol and a strong bourbon aroma. The new edition (available also in Café Abseits) is better balanced. More alcohol: 8.4% and a smoother bourbon aroma. In contrast to the Brewery Rittmaier with seasonal barrel aged beers in 0.375 l bottles, Kundmüller filled this beer in 0.75 l-bottles. New in the pipeline is a Weiherer Landbier starting end of April 2013 It's a "Solarbier". That means, that this beer is brewed with renewable energy. They also have two bio beers since 2011 (Keller-Pils and Urstöffla). Weiherer Lager Select in small bottles is brewed with the hop Spalter Select. The beergarden of the brewery Kundmüller is very popular: - good possibilities for children - franconian food (they slaughter) They have behind the brewpub also 35 beds (2- and 1-bed-rooms) and an appartment. This could be a possibility after a long evening in the brewpub. For more days this location requires a car or a bicycle. The bus connection is bad.
