BSF coming to Bamberg next year.

I've just returned from Edinburgh where Bieres Sans Frontieres, or BSF for short (the crowd that run the Foreign beer bars at the Great British Beer Festival for those not in the know) held our annual general meeting. At the end of the meeting it was unanimously decided that next year's meeting would be in Bamberg, possibly over the Easter weekend (18 - 21 April 2014), so as to allow people longer in the city. As an aside, it was disappointing to see that there was not much in the way of Franconian beer in the pubs I visited, (except the ubiquitous Schlenkerla and a few bottles of Maisel's Weisse) but on an upbeat note, the rise in the number of excellent pubs in Edinburgh and Leith, makes it well worth considering the city for a long weekend. There are also some very good Scottish micro's on the scene now. Off topic. One thing I did notice is a large increase in the number of craft beers on key-keg/cask (a lot of them domestically produced). The is a new bar on the Lothian Road called The hanging Bat. It has 7 hand pumps and 18 keg fonts all dispensing UK beers. Go visit! I even had a beer made with haggis spices, which despite the concept, worked very well (Elixir Gutless), and a strong dark beer made with mince pie spices (Elixir Minception) Apparently there is also a chilli version called Mincendary device.
