Having been to Amberg several times, a little bit of advice. Take a look at the Schiessl Wirtshaus, a former brewery (beers now brewed by Winkler whose tap is on the same street), the building was beautifully restored and they got a prize for it. Also do not overlook Kummert, which is a bit out of the centre, there are one or two unfiltered/Zwickl beers that are usually only available at the tap, where I ate well. http://www.schiessl-wirtshaus.de/ http://www.zumkummertbraeu.de/ And of course Sulzbach is close to Amberg as well, 2 more breweries.
