Kreuzbergfest? Maibock?

That's a really interesting website. Just looked at the list of closed breweries in Bamberg, which numbers around 64! I haven't analysed but a glance suggests that not all of these weren't open at the same time. Nevertheless, it's a staggering figure. In Judenstr, a very small street, virtually every house seems to have been a brewery at one time or another. I can't believe that there is any town anywhere in the world that has such a rich brewing tradition - even my beloved home town! I note also that Erlangen had 18 breweries in the 19th century - what happened?
