On 21 October, fifteen distillers (schnaps) and three brewers are holding an open day in the Walberla, a region including Pretzfeld (one stop before Ebermannstadt on the train from Forchheim). These events, which have been held for 10 years, are held on the third Sunday each October. You can read more about it (in German only) here: http://www.schnaps-brennerei.com/ Each of the participating distillers/brewers is offering something special for the day. There is a brochure about it that can be downloaded here: http://www.schnaps-brennerei.com/uploads/File/TdoB2012.pdf There are special buses that will run that day, but you will need to buy special tickets - regular tickets are not accepted. The area covered by the event is not very large and you can download routes for either walking or cycling between them here: http://www.schnaps-brennerei.com/wandervorschlaege-zum-tag-der-offenen-brennereien.html It looks really nice. Unfortunately it happens two weeks after I return home for the area.
