The Bockbieranstiche in Bamberg have a history, but since the 80er years the growing university (from 3.500 students to 12.000) makes these events very crowdy. Greifenklau taps p.e. around 6.000 Seidla (=30 hl). In the last year the Bockbieranstich of Schlenkerla (this year: 4th october) was so well visited, that the brewery have had problems to have enough beer. During the Bockbieranstich of the Mahrsbräu the street between Mahrsbräu und Keesmann ist full of people, I estimate: 3000 guests. You need no reservation and You will get no reservation (or only for some hours before the start). If You will come long enough before, You have a small chance to get a chair/table. But You can get a place for standing. The visitors are young, many females, most of them are students. If You have the chance to be in Bamberg on such a Bockbieranstich, You should visit. Maybe only for a Seidla and then go on to another pub. Sometimes the dates publicated are false. The reason is that the crowd is so great, that some breweries prefer no public relation of the date. P.e. in this list http://www.bamberg-guide.de/bamberg/bierundbierkultur/bockbieranstiche.php the date 14.12.2012 for the brewery Zehendner in Mönchsambach is false. The real date is the 07.12.12. The Bockbkieranstiche in Bamberg Country are not so full. In Mönchambach they tap only 1000 Seidla.
