Forchheim Update 4

Aye to all that Don, it should be a must visit for anyone really interested in beer, whether Franken or nay. A postscript to this message: thanks to the VGN, we didn't make Geisfeld/Rossdorf yesterday! Arrived in Hirschaid in time for the 11.25 circular and waited, and waited, and waited.... Many texts later, Becki's sharp eyes noticed a little clause tucked away in the DB schedule saying that the service was cancelled due to roadworks. Nothing on the bus stop and the service is still shown as the method of getting to Geisfeld on this particular Sunday in the DB schedule. Still, no matter, off down to the centre of Hirschaid where the local feuerwehr were holding a kirwa. I'm not sure whether anything could have bettered sitting in the beautiful sunshine under the trees in Brauerei Kraus. drinking a seidla or two of Hirschtrunk (voted by J as her favourite beer of the trip) and listening to the local band. After another exchange of texts, Nick suggested meeting one stop down the rail line at Buttenheim for a visit to Loewenbrau keller. Easily done and soon we were again sitting among the trees, with Nick and Becki enjoying excellent Loewenbrau kellerbier. Another charming location and the afternoon saved! This pm, a last visit to Roppelt before the weather turns sour in midweek.
