Breweries found at Sandkerwa.

Wandering the streets on Bamberg yesterday before the festival opened (it's a lot easy to get about then!), I came across the following breweries. Starting from the north end. Down by the river below the Markusbrucke are , Lowenbrau (Buttenheim), Krug, Buttner, Kundmuller, Zehender. Mahrs have a stand under the bridge itself. Coming up into town and along Sandstrasse are Schreuerer (from near Weiden(available in a pub oposite the bridge), then stands for Forst, Holzlein, Wagner (Merkendorf), Honig, Will, Hausbrauerei Stegaurach, Hummel, Recken, Kulmbacher AG, Spezial, Grasser (Huppi beers). As you turn through the 'S' bend you have the usual pubs and clubs with Hubner and Kundmuller available in the Stilbruch, then the action starts to hoy up around Schlenkerla and you could not move at 10 last night. To the rear of the Hotel Alt Ringlein is a big stand for Sonnebrau (where the music stage used to be). Cafe Abseits are behind Ambrosianum in a court yard and are just selling Huppi Vollbier, following through the Schlenekerla garden and turn left into Herrenstrsasse, there is a large Mahrs stand, Beyond that across Karolinen Strasse is a stand selling Ganstaller Zoigl, Huppi Voll and Holzlein. There then appears to be an area around the music stage completely taken over by Erdinger as everything is branded. If you cross the Geyersworth Brucke there is a court yard which is charging to get in so I didn't look to see what beer they were selling but next door on the road is a large Sonnebrau stand. The next bridge up (Unteremuhlbrucke) is sponsored by the Stilbruch and selling Hubner beer. All that is left is the 2 stands on the Unterebrucke and they are Sonnebrau and Wagnerbrau (Merkendorf). I saw someone walking about with a Wagnerbrau (Kemmern) stein but was not able to find where it was being sold from but they must be there somewhere, and I'm sure there are others tucked away that I will find today. Hope this helps anyone coming to find the beer they want to drink without having to push through the crowds. I find the path along the river bank quite useful for avoidging Sandstrasse and getting to the good beers under the Markusbrucke. Prost, Mat
