Sandkerwa - Hofbräuhaus - etc.

Aye, and they pour *Tucher*, of all horrible things. Nice *place* though. And so I had my first Gänstaller "Zeugl" from the new Schnaider (heh) brewery yesterday. And it is *much* improved over the former Trabelsdorfer version: a serious malty body as well as a good hop profile -- bitterness as well as actual flavour. It was also called "Festbier" at the stand though. The old stuff was thin and astringent, without enough pleasant flavour to compliment that astringency. Far, far better than the as-ever-too-sweet Huppendorfer Vollbier and the buttery Hölzlein (Lohndorf) served from the same stand. Hönig (Tiefenellern) down on Sandstraße was as clean but underwhelming-to-bland as always, luckily someone else was there to finish my Seidla for me. Then off to the "Gallery" down at the riverside end of the Kerwa with the excellent dark, dry-yet-malty Krug Lager from Geisfeld, not Breitenlesau. The Büttner next to it was undrinkably "waxy" and diacytel-laden. Fantastic weather, but a horrible crush of people by the time I left at 19:30.
