Erm...I mean, without knowing how many entrants there were in what categories from which countries and all that, it's hard to get a good picture of "how well Germany did" in reality. Lookie here, only 95 categories! < http://www.worldbeercup.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/WBC12-Winners-List.pdf > A quick glance reveals 503 American brewery operations entered vs. 62 Teutonic ones: < http://www.worldbeercup.org/about/participating-breweries > So about 8 times as many US brewers entered as German, but US brewers won 9 times as many awards. I personally don't give a rip about these awards, but have had SN Pils in the form of Summerfest, and so I can attest to its superiority to the vast bulk of German Pilsners.
