WIFI Sticks

Yes, they are not "WiFi" Sticks, but wireless broadband modems. As getting wireless broadband on a tablet, there are three options I can think of: Get an unlocked GSM "MiFi" and put the SIM card in that. That will create a wifi hotspot using the wireless broadband. I have a device from Clearpoint called PHS-300 (Personal Hot Spot). This is like a MiFi but without the modem. You connect your existing "surf stick" via USB. Mine is a couple of years old, so there may be newer models. If you have an unlocked Android smartphone, most of them will also let you create a WiFi hotspot. I do this often with my Samsung Galaxy Note. The iPhone can do something similar, but some versions have this disabled. You also have to watch SIM expiration dates -- most German ones will stay live for a year after the last top up -- and can be resurrected for a time beyond that. I have a UK SIM (voice only) that is only good for 90 days after the last activity. So I send myself and SMS every so often to keep it alive. In theory, O2 top up vouchers can be used with Tchibo but I have never done this (always gone to a shop) BTW, if anybody is need of a voice SIM for use in Germany, let me know. I have a couple of Solomo SIMs that I can loan out. Will work for data as well but its more for phone surfing and email, not computer.
