Fair enough. Also, I failed to explain that the Löwenbräu problems are new. About 2008, they changed something, and the Kellerbier has had a dominant apples-burnt-in-butter character ever since. I'm not alone in this observation, though nobody here on this board seems to have noticed it. Prior to that, it was a splendidly hoppy, bitter, clean Kellerbier. Before I took up homebrewing a couple of years ago, we used to mix Jever and Klausthaler Extra Herb in an attempt to emulate a hoppy session beer at home. THOSE were desperate times. The Klausthaler is, somewhat ironically, one of the hoppiest "beers" in the country. Not bitter, but continental hop flavour and aroma. And now, off to the Bierkeller.
