The name "franconian breweries" or "franconia" for this part of Baden-Württemberg is a little bit difficult to understand also for Germans. From 1500 to 1806 there was a so-called "Fränkischer Reichskreis" (one of six regions who has made the the "Reich" (Heiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nation) A map of the "Fränkischer Reichskreis": http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Fraenkischer_Reichskreis.png&filetimestamp=20070808215955 After the second world war a part of this Reichskreis, the region ("Heilbronn-Franken"), get part of the state "Baden-Württemberg" - an articial new state with very different parts (language, culture, food): not only Heilbronn-Franken but also Baden (Heidelberg and round) and Württemberg / Schwaben (Stuttgart/Freiburg and around) and the western part of the Allgäu (the eastern part of the Allgäu is part of Bavaria). A map of Heilbronn-Franken (an administration unit) http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:RegionHeilbronnFranken.png&filetimestamp=20061214095423 The language of the locals in the region Heilbronn-Franken is a version of the franconian language.
