Bernsteines...Bernsteinfarbiges

Yeah, I see that, and I see "bernsteinfarbig" and "bernsteinfarben" used fairly interchangeably, but what I mean is, does "bernstein[e|em|en|er|es]" as a declinable adjective simply not exist? Looking at canoo.net suggests that "bernsteinen" and "golden" are declinable but not "bernstein" and "gold". Maybe because these two words also represent physical objects as nouns, then they can't be used directly as adjectives? "Das Braun" is the noun of a color, and the adjective "braun" is declinable, but since "das Gold" is the noun of a physical element and not just an abstract colour, it cannot also exist as an adjective? Meh. Back to bottling the latest batch of half-IPA. And to decide what hops to use in the coffee-maker.
