Fränkischer Tag vs. Erlanger Nachrichten

Who to believe? The Erlanger paper I linked to above says that the pre-Christian Celts began the tradition. Now this piece from the Fränkischer Tag, http://www.infranken.de/nachrichten/lokales/bamberg/Die-Kraft-waechst-Schluck-um-Schluck;art212,238649 , quotes Bezirksheimatpfleger (district/regional caretaker of folk traditions?) Günter Dippold as saying that's just a rumor, and isn't true. He doesn't bother to elaborate though. Brilliant. Turns out that the Bockbier there is self-brewed, not from one of the nearby breweries. In the paper version, there's a photo of two guys brewing outside, using what look suspiciously to me like laundry tubs. If so, nein danke.
