Personally, I'm amazed by Franconian beer because I didn't realize lager beer could be that good. We've gotten so used to crappy lager over here in the US that I never realized what it could be. Now I can imagine that if I lived there for a few years the love would wear off a bit. Even in my last visit after being there for 16 days I was craving a nice hoppy pale ale, ipa, or even a stout. I ran straight to the local beer store when I got home. Not because after 16 days I thought there was anything wrong with Franconian lager. I still love it. I just got the craving for something else. Now IMO where Franconia has got us all beat hands down is the atmosphere. I don't care if I had to drink the most average of Franconian kellerbiers instead of the absolute best UK pale ale. I'd still rather drink beer in a keller than anywhere else (weather permitting of course).
