http://i53.tinypic.com/vddb49.jpg and http://i53.tinypic.com/2djarmw.jpg are two parts to an article from the local newspaper earlier in the week. The first half is about the Brauhaus am Kreuzberg with a big photo of Norbi playing with the copper, and the rest touches on the usual stuff: 280 breweries in Franken with 1000 different beers, the Aufseß community with the world record brewery/capita density, the Wettelsheimer Keller (3,50€ Mass vom Holzfass--Oberfranken prices!), the Neuhaus/Pegnitz Kommunbrauer, the country's only city-owned Brauerei in Spalt and the various brewing/beer museums. My Friedel-skeptic Roppelt's kellermates were unsurprised to see Friedel in the paper again, since "they've got connexions with the media down there in Nürnberg". And the Roppelt's Kellerbier is beautifully hoppy again this week. No guarantees for next week. Further technical info from Franz Roppelt: he uses pellet hops because storage of whole hops is problematic. His 1000 litre disposable plastic serving bag is called an "inliner", which I suppose comes from http://www.tank-drive.com/teile.php since that's what his tank looks like. His beer is normally lagered 6 weeks before filling into the inliner, but sometimes it's only 4 weeks.
