That does clarify the difference in understanding. The USA is largely a "keg" beer culture, even now, and most beer is dispensed under CO2 pressure, and let's face it, that's true in most of the world. So of course we Yankloids are used to the idea that beer is something that is "poured," whether from a tap or bottle/can/jug. Cask beer has made some inroads, and it was nice to stop in for a cask IPA at a taproom the other night, hand-pulled via a beer engine and everything. But it's not the norm in my neck of the woods.
