Absolutely second the recommendation to stop in Jena and head out to Wöllnitz! Had tasty lamb shank lunch washed down with their "Lichtenhainer Weisse" there last year. If you decide to make a longer journey out of it, you can get a taxi (or figure out the bus) to the western reaches of Jena and visit the Papiermühle brewpub and hotel. We liked the place quite a bit, especially for the excellent Schwarzbier.
