At the World's Greatest Bierkeller, or at least certainly Stiebarlimbach's Greatest Bierkeller, the Kellerbier is served from tanks under gas. The sheer volume Herr Roppelt serves prevents him from doing bayerischen Anstich. And it's one of the very, very best beers in the country, if not *the* best. He gets the gas perfect, and the unfiltered beer doesn't suffer a bit. I agree, generally, that the more natural the beer is, the better. Can you recall where you read the bit about Germans not differentiating between bottled and draught? Maybe search the archives? As much as I like Mahr's, I must admit, I've never sat in the little front room. I'm normally in the Schwemme. Of course, now that the front room is smoke-free, I'd be more likely to spend some time there. Be careful suggesting that Germans could learn something about beer from the British though! ;)
