Christmas in Bamberg

AFA whether it's cold or not, well, it's colder than some places, but not as cold as others! ;) Depends on where you're coming from. We had a cold, longish winter last year (so people here say), so hopefully it'll be nice and warm this year. Christmas Eve (spelled variously as "Heiligabend", "Heiliger Abend", "hl. Abend", "der heilige Abend" or "am heiligen Abend", all mean "holy Eve") is tough, as places do tend to close, some for the whole day. Christmas Day and Boxing Day ("1. & 2. Weihnachten") are not necessarily holidays for the gastro trade, but some places might close. But this is generally true, not just in Bamberg. I've never been to Bamberg *at* Xmas, so I can't personally say what's going on, although there'll be a Bockbier or two available, especially at Café Abseits. Christmas Markets should normally close on the 23rd, if not the 24th.
