Nuremberg/accomodation/Landbierparadies

I've just got back today from a trip to Franconia. My trip included a couple of days in Nuremberg. So here are a few beer tourist notes about N'berg: * I stayed at the Derag Maximillian on Untere Kanalstr, in the Plarrer area. You can book online at bookings.de * But if you are staying near Wodanstr., I recommend a couple of bars in the area. Singularis Porcus, on Harsdörffer Str. had Reichold on draught when I visited. Cafe Express is a great kneipe, a couple of blocks south of the Hbf. They have some Bamberg beers and Meister available on draught. See www.cafe-express.de * Both the Landbierparadies places I visited (Wodanstr. and Rothenbergerstr.) had Krug of Breitenlesau on tap. * I did not get to visit the new Schanzenbräu pub & beer garden. It was closed when I passed by in the afternoon. They open in the evenings at 7PM. * I had the rotbier at the Altstadt brewery. I thought it was a superb drink. Just my opinion. * My visit coincided with the Nuremberg HerbstVolkFest. This is a 2-week fair held at the Rally Grounds and I must say it was pretty impressive. Primarily a massive funfair for all the family, it also includes some great food stalls and, of course, something for the beer drinkers amongst us. Tucher and Lederer have giant Munich-style tents. But there are also other stalls offering brews such as: Meister (superb), Hofmann of Hoehenschwarz, Krug of Breit., Alt Dietzhof. Mike
