Weiher

The best beer at the "Behrch" (Franconian pronunciation--ch like Bach), aka the Erlanger Bergkirchweih, is the Weiher Lager. It's a very drinkable alternative to the undrinkably lame, sweet, Oktoberfest(*)-like Festbier(s) from Kitzmann and Tucher, though to be fair the ones from Mönschshof and Steinbach are at least drinkable. There are also the Dunkel and Hell from Alt in Dietzhof, and once you drive off the excess gas, they're ok too. These and the Weiher are available by the Seidla too--and Weiher have their Rauch and Weizen (and maybe also their Pils) on tap. So one can actually drink decently "auf dem Berg". Go early though, because it's really unpleasantly packed after about 18.00. (*)Note I mean specifically the modern Münchener O'fest beers, which have been dumbed down to the point of being mere alcohol delivery vehicles. O'fests brewed elsewhere, like in the US, can be quite fine treats. Nice tip about that Fischer at the place in Bamberg!
