| Nothing particularly blasphemous about it. Franconia contains a trio of substantial wine-growing regions, with plenty of Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau varietal wines, as well as a few others, and a very small selection of light, fruity red wines as well. You'll find such wines in Bamberg, even at the beeriest locales, but wine lists will tend to be short. If you head to Würzburg, you'll find that wine pubs (Weinstuben) are not at all uncommon; at one time, long ago, beer brewing was not even allowed in Würzburg, but wine making was very much encouraged and promoted. |
