Eric's Franconia Trip - RFA #2

I don't think I mentioned yet that my friend and I fly home from Munich. After spending several days in Bamberg and making day trips to places I'll need help later selecting we'll be heading south. I'd like to know if anyone here has any opinions on Regensberg vs. Ingolstadt as a place to spend a couple days. We'll be staying in one of the two places for, I think, two days while we make day trips to Mallersdorf, Weltenberg & Abensberg. Remember we prefer picturesque places, castles, half-timbered houses, etc. to urban, modern, industrial places. Thanks, Eric
