Uerige beers in Munich - tough call?

"Munich" and "decent Alt beer" really don't belong in the same sentence. Munich isn't about Alt or Kölsch or really much of anything else except Munich (and some southern Bavarian) beers. That said, if you're jonesing for something resembling Altbier, you can head up to Haus der 111 Biere. Take the U-Bahn to Münchner Freiheit station, head to east side of Leopoldstrasse and go down to Franzstrasse and head east. You'll find Diebels Alt (is why I wrote "resembling") on tap, and if you're still pining for Rheinland beer, there's Früh Kölsch too. You'll pay dearly for it, but in the end, I doubt you'll find it worthwhile. As far as strong winter Bocks go, Bock is more of a late-winter/early-spring thing (aka "Starkbierzeit"), but you're likely to find Weihnacht Festlagers instead. These aren't usually Bocks, but you might find something interesting anyway. There might be Salvator on tap at the Paulaner am Nockherberg, and you'll probably be able to get Aventinus at Schneider's Weisses Brauhaus. Otherwise, if you're looking for Alt, Munich really isn't the place to go. It's kind of like going to Düsseldorf and trying to find a place that serves Rauchbier.
