Tripping to Germany in Sept. 2006

Hi M, Thanks for your reply re: my post. I've used Hertz before as well and never will again. Had a very bad experience in 2001 with a Hertz car. Also, I've priced them my last two times to Germany and they have been expensive compared to SIXT and Auto Europe. The others I listed are new to me so I was hoping to get some feedback from others who may have tried them. You know, I have heard from others what you say regarding drinking and Driving in Germany and I am dedicated to being a safe tourist while traveling there but in my experience, I have never seen a police car patrolling the Autobahn so how do they catch drivers who are over the limit? Are there occasional random check points and I have just never seen one? Are the police more visible during Stadt Volkfests, etc.? I'm serious, I've driven during every trip to Germany and the only time I've seen a police car on the Autobahn is at an accident site. Take care, Eric
