The pub Brian is talking about in the OP is this one and as you can see from the list all of the beers there are expensive. http://deepellum-allston.com/dewp/drafts/ It's a specialty beer bar in Boston and has you can has a few Franconian options on draft all for over $9. The pricing there is not unusual for Boston. I reckon a pint of Guinness in the city center is going to run around $7-8. It's just the way it is. Not a place to go out drinking if you live on a budget. The best places to go drinking in the Boston area are the brewery tap rooms on the outskirts of the city (Somerville, Everett, etc.) where the price of a pint isn't as costly. i find the only way to get reasonably priced Franconian style beers here is to homebrew them yourself. I do this occasionally (those on my FB feed know I served up a bock this weekend at my home that I brewed in May). I know Brian does this as well. It helps tie me over until I can get over there again. |
