OT: A long weekend in the mountains

Nick and self have discussed the health question extensively, both on and off the forum.  He has his views, I have mine, no arguments, just discussion.  My current health views are really based on my particular situation and are the best solution for my ills that I can see, based on (IMHO) informed medical advice.

Anyway, re drinking beer: I more or less agree with what Jason says but it's all down to personal choice.  There;s nothing criminal about not liking beer but, like Jason, I have gained more from liking than I think I would have by not liking - if you see what I mean.  I concur with his comments about meeting loads of interesting people; of course, not all beer acquaintances have been positive, some have been negative, but not so many.  I think it's to do with sociability.  I don't know much about drug taking, I've never smoked and find the idea of taking tablets or smoking stuff quite depressing, partly because it seems a rather solitary activity.  But, what do I know!

Of course, alcohol is a drug and should be handled with some care, something that I haven't always done in the past.  I am drinking a lot less beer now than I used to and, generally, of a lower strength (much like in my long, lost youth) but enjoying it as much.  As I've said before, it's not just the beer, as I rarely drink at home, but the whole experience.  I love pubs and bars, though I admit to being a bit picky (can't believe I'm saying that!).

I'm not sure whether I've reached middle-age yet - they keep changing the parameters - whatever, for good or ill, I'm not going to change too much now.  Off to a new (to me) place tonight, probably a little trip to Caernarfon to meet rellys (in a pub), then maybe a little trip to Conwy and the wonderful Albion Ale House (good beer and company) and then back to the Bay Hop.  Can't be bad.

Is that enough of a confession, Father?
