How much to weigh |

I have no doubt you *could* lose that weight if you really wanted to. I've gone from 190 # / 86 kg to 163 / 74 since last summer, when I got serious about fitness and correcting decades-long errors in how I feed myself. IOW, I got serious about intensive exercise (weight lifting and interval training) and eliminating starch & sugar from my "diet". I had no set weight loss goal, it's just been a side effect & benefit of the changes I've made. (This website's where I learnt about proper fitness training, not just going to the gym and doing endless hours of "aerobics" on the elliptical machine.) So without restricting how MUCH I eat or drink, I've burned off quite a bit of fat. I wish I'd had my body fat % measured, rather than just weighing myself, as I'm sure the amount of fat I've burned off is more than the difference in my weight, since I've put on a bit of muscle mass in the process, which is my long-term goal. I had no idea that I would lose such an amount of weight. FWIW, the few months I spent before eliminating the starch saw me lose no weight, despite being in the gym 3 times a week or more. But I was also not doing *intensive* training then, before I learned to train properly. I'll be curious to see the new Mark Lite. Those of you who saw me last a year or so ago might notice a difference, or not, as I wasn't obese or anything before, just softer and flabbier. I still have lots of progress to make. The difference in how much beer I can handle vs. a year ago...pretty trivial, I think. I'm not sure extra body fat tissue helps that much. Having a larger, stronger, more active muscle mass seems like it ought to, OTOH, as your metabolism is more active as a result. I had no trouble drinking all day and night long in Antwerp in December or Manchester in January. And the improvement in how I feel in every other way more than offsets any concern about diminished drinking ability. Bigly. |
