Best Atmosphere

Barry, you've pretty much hit on why I rate Faessla the best in Bamberg strictly for atmosphere.  The Schwemme, the characters that you often wind up in a conversation with, etc.  I just find it overall more user friendly than the place across the street which is so uptight you have to grab a key just to go the the toilet.  

Yeah Spezial's beer is much better than Faessla and the place is really nice but there is such an uptight, offputting attitude of the place and it's staff sometime that I feel almost unwelcome even stepping inside the place.  

I've never had that problem with Faessla.  Just go get your beer from the hatch and drink in the Schwemme or in the courtyard out back, if you can stand the smoke, and it's that simple.

I'd like to spend more time inside Spezial but often it just seems like too much of a pain in the arse.  But yeah another good solution is to do what you suggest and take a bus to a nearby place like Bischberg and problem solved.
