I don't know whether ingesting CO2 (carbonic acid when it is dissolved in water) is harmful - suggestions are that it helps the body get rid of CO2 but the notion seems to be unproved. All I know is that I can tell quite easily when it is added to beer rather than as produced as part of the fermention process. Maybe the fermentation process acts in the same way as the human body and is a method of getting rid of CO2? Just my idea, without any scientific knowledge of same! |
