| Hmmm...have to plan at least a bit in advance, that's probably the price of a same day flight. I looked into this a bit when the discussion below was going on about where to stay in or near Memmingen. Back then, I saw DUB - NUE for 150€ pp - yes, double your Ryan Air price, but then getting the travel done in one day might be worth something, as well as saving on an overnight or two, and the Bayerntickets. Well, I suppose you need the Bayernticket to get to Eschawo from NUE too. Not sure where you're seeing the 24 hour delay in Zurich. Also...maybe I was thinking erroneously of Swiss. A check right now, for dates in mid April to early May, shows your favourite Lufthansa leaving Dublin at 11.05 and landing at NUE at 16.15, for 164€. IME, normal airlines (Lufthansa, KLM, Swiss) charge about that for a return to the UK. At least, I've never found better than ~150€. Now, Lufthansa is part of the Swiss group or vice-versa, and the Lufthansa price comes up through the Swiss webbie. Flights on Swiss are the same price, but not as convenient time-wise. Obviously all moot if you end up in Manchester, with its connexions. And about getting to Dublin...I've forgotten what the difference in driving is for you to Shannon or Dublin. But with those departure & landing times, surely it'd be do-able, wouldn't it? If the goal were to get from home to Windischeschenbach or Franken in a single day's travel and back again, at least. Yes, at the cost of 160€ extra. I'd kick in 20€ -- who else is with me? Just to see you two enjoy an extra day in Franken, and save you the worry of getting to Memmingen and back.
