Someone, somewhere, sometime, must have written something informative on how German Pils (particularly northern sorts) evolved and why they're called "Pilsner" when they're so different to Pilsner from Pilsen. I drink more Pilsner Urquell at home than any other beer these days. From green bottles, even. The little 330 ml retro cans have appeared down here, and are inferior to the green bottled stuff: flatter and less of that lovely peppery note. (Of course, I dilute it from 4.4 to 3.7% with Störtebeker Alkoholfreies to yield a proper session lager) |
