And somewhere above or below, Barry said something about the new phenomenon of "micro-pubs", where a small closed-up shop is converted into a mini-pub, i.e. without a kitchen and low overhead costs. Indeed there is one in Thanet (Broadstairs-St. Peters to be exact) that has put in  a little brewery, the Four Candles, across the street from a proper pub, the Little Albion, which itself is worth a look in, just because he seems to always have Oakham Citra on, plus another Oakham.

I was there to sample his first beer, a <4% hoppy pale bitter, and it was really good. Subsequent beers have been a bit more variable, but good in general. Highly recommended, supposedly the smallest brewpub in the country, and besides, he's a Scot. In Thanet. Quite a peculiarity, that.

Hey, turns out he's got the 2.5 bbl Porter system. Proof it can work well.
