Weekend round-up

So, Nick, how would like such a product: it could be malty and hoppy (and yeasty, see below) but with a relatively low alcohol content?  Quite unlike Mark's notional 'thin beer tasting of nothing but hops'.

Not following your question...do you mean "who" would like such a product? Or "how would I"?

FWIW, I could drink good Sam Smith's OBB (cask) or especially Harvey's Sussex Best (cask, of course), both at 4%, all day long. Both are malty, though I think Harvey's is richer, even if I've never been able to compare them directly. And probably never will be able to, unfortunately, with SS OBB being ONLY available at SS pubs, where no other beers are available.

On Mahr's. If it were only not so strong for the relatively mild flavour. Then it could be a decent session beer, but 2 or 3 and I'm done. (And it was a wee bit husky on Friday, though I wasn't complaining.)

Rochefort give their beers a 5 year shelf life, so that one was probably nearly a decade old. That would be nice! There's been a lot online recently about how sweet Rochefort 8 and 10 have become in very recent years. I tend to agree: the last few I've had have been too sweet, though also very young. I've a 75 cl of 8 from several years ago in the cellar.
