Yeah I'm sure it's part local living standards and also cost of doing business. It just costs more to run a pub here on Cape Cod or in the city of Boston than it does in the small town of Plymouth, New Hampshire. On Cape Cod lack of competition also may be a factor. There just aren't that many good pubs with good beer here. Lots of dive bars with Bud Light on tap but not much else. Part of the reason for that is we have an older/retiree population here and they're more interested in drinking the same beers they have for 40 years for $4-5 (can't say I blame them) rather than a $8 IPA. This is changing slowly though. Some more pubs are opening up around here currently. |
