I think that there is something in the sweet tooth argument and the not actually liking the taste point ,John and Barry. It is also I believe, the ever growing band of small breweries trying to get noticed, and get thier product onto the bar ahead of the competion. The ludicrous names are not in evidence as much now,so the wierd ingredients ploy comes into play! I am not sure why Maisel are going down this route in Germany. In the uk Greene king have done something similar buiding a "small"experimental brewery to claw back some of the market share being lost to the micros. Not that they bloody need it! It could be that the brewer doing very well, and bored with the same old, same old,is looking to do something different. John I have been espousing your point of view for a while, and believe it is time to clarify what can be termed beer,or especialy, Ale. Bye the way,is this the same family as Maisel Bamberg? |
