Yes. The Kártoffelsalat is made with majonnaise in the style of north germany. Our chief says that is better in the combination with the plaice. The Weyermann Hofbräu Lager is interesting because they use the spring barley Barke, an old kind of barley with less harvest. More information (in German): http://www.weyermann.de/ger/news.asp?go=ne&show=yes&idne=3501&umenue=yes&idmenue=4&sprache=1 So the Bamberger Hofbräu Lager is for the malthouse Weyermann and their customers a reference for beers brewed with Barke. At the Café Abseits some older locals guests like the Bamberger Hofbräu Lager because they have experienced this beer in their youth. But You are right, the Bamberger Hofbräu has been a big brewery not a small craft brewer, and so their beers have been brewed for the mass market. Togehter with a daughter (Erlwein & Schultheiß) in Erlangen they have brewed 280.000 hl with around 500 employees in the year 1925. |
