Sad to say but the Irish beer drinkers have caught the infection. Beoir describe themselves as: Malt Grist Best English Pale Ale malt Hop Grist Dry hopping All the hops are English varieties The beer has a starting OG of 1053 degrees and is fairly well attenuated (has a fairly low PG in keeping with the IPA style). The measured bitterness is high (around 50 EBU) but this bitterness is predominantly derived from the lower alpha-acid Golding hops and has a perceived fruity roundness with a distinct but not harsh bitterness. The initial aroma is of a spicy slightly floral fruity hop, the initial palate is immediately hit with a bright CO2 sparkle resulting from the bottle conditioning (similar to the difference felt comparing Champagne to Sparkling wine). The light dry palate still carries a satisfying fruit and malt fullness and finishes with the crisp bitterness. |
